About Me

I am a moral and political philosopher. My work is primarily about freedom, work, and capitalism. Currently, I am developing a theory of freedom based on the idea that free activity must be intrinsically rather than extrinsically motivated. I approach these topics in part through an engagement with various historical figures, including Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Hegel, and especially Marx. You can find out more about my research here, and you can find links to some of my papers on my PhilPeople page. (Questions, comments, and objections welcome!)
I have been an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Northwestern University since summer 2023. Previously, I taught at Clemson University for three years, having completed my Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in 2020. Here is my abridged C.V.; a full C.V. is available from me on request.
